E-mails with attachments not being received
    Posted: 2008-04-23 11:28:53   Last Updated: 2008-05-01 11:21:02
    Details:

We are currently aware of an issue with emails containing attachments not being received from senders with a Bigpond email service. We are currently working on the issue and will provide updates once more information is known.

Update (28/4/2008): The issue has been traced back to Bigpond and it would appear that a number of Internet Providers have been affected by this same issue.

Whilst we have reported this problem to Bigpond, Bigpond have also advised that any Bigpond users experiencing problems similar to the above when sending emails to email addresses hosted on the Freedom Internet Group servers should report the problem to Bigpond so that an appropriate support call can be logged. We advise that if you are told there is no problems, that you should immediately ask for a supervisor who can take more appropriate action.

More information about the extent of this issue can be found at the following:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=958552

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=963746

Update (01/05/2008): The problem of emails with attachments beign sent via Bigpond now appears to be resolved. There is still a delay in the emails arriving and from our own testing, this appears to be approximately 2 hours. Whilst the delay is still considered a problem, the major issue of emails with attachments not being delivered when sent by Bigpond users has been resolved. Freedom Internet Group will continue to monitor this over the next week to ensure the issue remains resolved.

Update (10/05/2008): Ongoing tests for reliability and consistency in receiving email from Bigpond accounts have now been completed. These tests have been taking place since the last update to check and ensure that email is being delivered and also delivered in an expected time frame. We are now confident that the problem has been resolved completely as emails with attachments are arriving within a couple of minutes after being sent.
